about

New Studies of the Starry Skies is the second installment of Raymond’s “Modern Achievements” series. It pays tribute to three entries from a 1903 encyclopedia of the same name that was discovered at Seattle’s Fremont Sunday Market.

The work combines an unconventional instrumentation with diverse improvisational and compositional approaches to transport the listener on a path through the heavens and back. In reflection of our wondrous universe, New Studies focuses on cycles and expansive systems which collide and interact in startling and marvelous ways.
